Advent is the beginning of the year on the Church calendar, so Christ the King is like New Year’s Eve for the Church and celebrates Jesus’ kingship over all the world. It is comforting amidst al the conflict and uncertainty of human affairs to remember that Christ remains sovereign in all things.
