Workmen came this week to excavate the time capsule placed in the cornerstone of the parish house when it was constructed 100 years ago in 1926. It ended up being a bit of a hunt, but the capsule was eventually located. It is a copper box containing, among other things, a Bible, prayer book, list of members, and a copy of the Macon Telegraph. Also discovered was the cornerstone of one of Christ Church’s former mission chapels St. John’s.
The contents of the capsule will be on display in the Cloister Room this Sunday (please do not handle them directly), after which they will be stored securely in our vault until they are ready to be displayed in the history room, when it is finished.
We invite everyone to come see the capsule and be present as the Rt. Rev. Robert Wright, Bishop of Atlanta, blesses our own time capsule at the Parish House Centennial Celebration in the Cloister Garden this Sunday, April 19, immediately following the 10:30 am service of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.
