PARISH ADMINISTRATOR

Christ Church is a vibrant, welcoming, multigenerational Episcopal Church in downtown Macon. We are looking for a part-time parish administrator to serve as a communication hub for the parish, oversee the office and office volunteers, coordinate the scheduling of the facility, and be a welcoming presence. The position is Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00.

Position Description:

  • Manage Church Calendar and coordinates facilities use (with oversight of the rector).
  • Create agenda for weekly staff meeting (with input from staff) and take notes.
  • Collects information from various ministries in the church for monthly Chimes and for Annual Report.
  • Provides support as needed for parish groups.
  • Keeps membership information up to date in Realm Church Software.
  • Helps prepare any in-house publications such as welcome packets and bulletin inserts.
  • Keeps welcoming packets prepared and in stock.
  • Arranges for transfers in and out of the parish.
  • Prepares and sends out parish mailings and weekly emails using Constant Contact.
  • Order and manage office supplies.
  • Manage, train, and schedule office volunteers.
  • Order any catering needed for special events not otherwise handled by Parish Life.
  • Answer the telephone and office door when not covered by an office volunteer.
  • Helps to compile information for the annual Parochial report.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.

Qualifications:

  • Able to navigate Realm software and other online resources.
  • College Degree
  • Mature, respectful, friendly, and welcoming of all people.
  • Comfortable working with current office equipment such as digital printers.
  • Able to respond with compassion to those calling or coming by the church for help.
  • Strong organizational skills.

ASSOCIATE PRIEST

Christ Church is a vibrant, multigenerational church in downtown Macon, Georgia, growing by God’s grace as a family of faith, fellowship, and ministry. We celebrate our history and are approaching our parish’s 200th anniversary in 2025 which is also the 25th anniversary of our Fisk organ. The oldest church in Macon and the mother church of the diocese of Atlanta, we have about 700 members with a staff of 2 priests, a full time youth minister, a full time director of music, a part time children’s minister, and support staff. We provide opportunities for all ages for spiritual growth and fellowship, joyful worship, an excellent music program, healing ministry, and extensive opportunities for outreach ministry including our own program for meeting the needs of the food insecure, Weekend Lunch. We also help people discern and develop their own gifts for ministry and to carry them out in the life of the church and the surrounding community. Position Description

The associate shares in many of the responsibilities of the rector under the rector’s supervision. These include:

  • Assisting regularly with preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and administering the sacraments, including participation in Sunday Services at 8:00 and 10:30, the Wednesday noon Eucharist and healing service, and other services.
  • Identify and develop creative community building opportunities.
  • Providing support for Christian education for adults in conjunction with the Adult Education Team, and the rector.
  • Provide support for men’s ministry and Bible Study
  • Work to develop and implement creative ways to better reach those living in the downtown area lofts
  • Work as a team with the clergy and staff.

Qualifications Required

  • Mature faith, heart for the Lord, and desire to serve
  • MDIV  from an Episcopal Seminary or Anglican studies program
  • Ordination to the priesthood or in that process
  • Relationship builder, warm and friendly
  • Strong preacher, teacher, communicator
  • Competent in the use of current technology in ministry
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated
  • Discipleship and evangelism
  • Good people skills including children

Compensation

  • Salary, Housing, and SECA $66,000 – $70,000 commensurate with experience

NURSERY WORKER

Christ Church, the Episcopal Church on Walnut street downtown, is looking for additional caregivers to be part of the rotation to work in the nursery on Sundays, and special occasions. Hours are Sunday mornings, 9:15 – 12:00, with the opportunity for the addition of occasional Sunday or Wednesday evenings (when we have a program), and Vacation Bible School June 3-6 4:30-7:00. The pay is $15/hr with a $20 minimum for any given event. We have at least two people working at any given time. Qualifications: Loving, patient character with child care (infant and toddler) experience. References, background check, and drug screening required.
