February Recap

February Recap:
In February we finished the season of Epiphany, where we remember the many times in which Jesus’ divinity was manifested in the Gospels, and transitioned into the season of Lent, the time of fasting and repentance in preparation for Easter.
On February 15, the Last Sunday in Epiphany, we learned about the Transfiguration and then gathered in the Great Hall for All in the Family: Journey into Lent. We talked about the meaning of Lent, studied the words of the hymn “I want to walk as a child of the light,” and buried the “alleluias” until Easter.
In the evening, the choir closed out the Epiphany season with a beautiful service of Evensong celebrating Candlemas: the Feast of the Presentation.
On February 17, we returned to the Great Hall on Shrove Tuesday for one last feast before Lent. We listened to jazz at Mardi Gras-themed tables and ate low country boil.
On February 18, we observed Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. On Ash Wednesday, people begin their fasts and received ashes on their heads as a sign of repentance and mourning.
On to March!
