November recap!
It was another busy month at Christ Church as we closed out the liturgical year and prepared to begin the Advent and Christmas seasons.
The month began with All Saints’ on November 2 as we celebrated all those who have gone before us in the faith, followed that evening by contemplative, candlelight All Souls’ service in Jones Chapel were we honored the memory of those loved ones we have lost.
On November 4, we returned to Jones Chapel for our second Rooted service of the year. We hope you’ll join us for our spring Rooted services on March 10 and April 28.
On November 7-8, the Diocese of Atlanta held their annual Diocesan Council at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Two Christ Church members were recognized during the council. Addison Henry, who is the chair of the Diocesan Youth Commission, was chosen to speak at the youth-led worship service and Elizabeth Benjamin received the Bishop’s Cross in recognition of her work with Appleton Episcopal Ministries.
On November 9, we concluded our Annual Giving Campaign, collecting pledges so the vestry can draft the budget for next year. We marked the end with a Stewardship Luncheon in the Great Hall.
From November 10-17, the Rev. Cynthia Knapp led a group of parishioners on a retreat to the Caribbean island of St. Barths.
On November 23, we held our second All in the Family intergenerational Sunday School and service project. This time, we assembled over 100 hygiene kits with personal care essentials which were distributed to the guests at Weekend Lunch. Then, we celebrated the Feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of the Church year.
On November 30, we started the new year with the First Sunday of Advent. We held another intergenerational Sunday School where we explored the Season of Advent through Scripture and song and made Advent wreaths.
On to December!
